Indian Pre-Schools

Before plunging into the topic lets throw some light on Why do we send our children to a Pre-School? I think the reasons are as follows:-
It is universally expected to increase the young child's ability to perform basic self care tasks i.e.in other words we can call it as school readiness program  which makes a child ready to go to elementary schools - physically and mentally.
The second reason is to develop self confidence, self esteem and to feel valued as an individual, may be this is the most important objective of this program.
A child's social, intellectual and physical development through play and structured activities, prepares them for a smooth transition from pre-school to school (primary).
Cognitive development, process of social interaction is another important objective.

Now the actual topic Preschools in India: preschool education, like other forms of education is intended by the society.The Pre-School education is not yet recognised well by the Government. although a complete draft of curriculum[ www.ncert.nic.in>pdf_files] has been prepared and along with rules and regulations has been sent to states. Some State Government has implemented it and started the registration of pre-school but in majority of states there is no clear rules. But in India preschool/play schools are nowadays very high in demand. This industry is growing at the rate of 24.5 CAGR (compond annual growth rate - a business that provides a constant rate of return over the time period in GP ratio). But almost 70% of these schools are still unorganised and run by local people due to lack of government regulations and rest 30% are run in a Franchise Model - mostly better organised and high budget.

From 2015-16 academic year, the School Education Department, through a Government resolution, fixed the minimum age for admission to Nursery at 3 years and 6 years for Std I by 2018-19. Several schools currently admit students in Nursery at the age of 2.5 and at 5 years in Std I. So in 70% cases - in the play schools which are run by the localites by poorly trained or untrained non/pseudo educators, are overcrowded with unsuitable curricula - which diminish the quality of the education system and is definitely limiting children's futures by denying them opportunities to reach their full potential. On the other hand children enrolled in pre-school program are more likely to develop critical skills, they need to succeed in school and less likely to repeat grades or drop out.

A Successful Kid



Get involved into your child’s school activity
It is found that when the parents are involved in child’s school activities at home, kids do better in school. Attend the orientation programs, parent- teacher meetings or any other occasions, when the school calls you. This way you will have a good relation with the school, know about your child in the school and know the expectation of the school from the you and your child.

Visit the school website
Visiting the school website often will help you to connect with the school and keep yourself updated.

Support homework
If any home assignments are given, help the child complete his activity exactly as instructed by the school. Create an affirmative work ambience at home. Avoid any sort of distractions during work/study time, like TV shows, talking loudly etc. Guide your child when required to complete his work – develop an urge to complete his work himself.

Send your child well prepared to school
Give nutritious and balanced breakfast and lunch. The child should be well dressed with proper school uniform {ironed and washed properly). The child should eat seasonal fruits daily. Adequate sleep is very important for the child. Send your child with required item properly.

Teach the child to be organized
Teach the child to do his own work himself in a proper manner. Thus he will be independent, skilled and disciplined.

Teach study skill
Teach the child how to study – being his parent you will better know, what techniques the child will use to learn better. Learning skill varies from individual to individual.

Show respect for the school
Always keep faith on the school. If you are having any issues, directly discuss the matter with the school and sort it out.  Don’t let your child get into the process.

Abide by the rules
You should know the school disciplinary policy and help your child to follow the school discipline. You also abide by and follow the instructions given by the school.

Be regular and punctual
Don’t let your child being absent from the school, unless he is sick. Let him reach the school well in advance the school time.

Find time for school talk
Listen about the school day from your child regularlythus he will understand his school – this is important for you and this way the school will also be important for your child. You should be a good listener.

Meditation and Physical Exercise - Enjoy a Cool Exam

Exam is a compulsive phase of a student life where we understand what we have learnt from our teachers. But unfortunately today's rat race have instigated an assortment of fear around self worth . While preparing for an exam , we create a fear of failing and then thought creates stress and anxiety, which makes difficult to concentrate or focus in our studies.

How Meditation can help in this situation?

  •  What is Meditation?                                                                                                                Meditation is a tool, that can help you clear your mind, reign your thoughts back out of the illusion of gloomy future, which is created in mind and diminish anxiety.
  • Some techniques : Few meditation techniques are discussed below; you can practice any one; but regularly and consistently.
  1. Concentrate: Focussing anything, like regulation of your breath, or sound of anything - rain or wind blowing or observing a candle flame. At the beginning you will feel boring and thousands of thoughts will whizz through your mind, but by regular practice of chasing your random thoughts and just letting them go,  concentrate on that particulate thing.
  2. Walking : Walk in a calm place being aware and try to feel the ground beneath your feet, as you put each and every step.  Watch your breathing process too and also be aware of the surrounding  natural sounds, normally which you ignore and feel peaceful with the nature.
  3. Utter a particular phrase for sometime: Utter and feel a particular phrase like 'Happy Exam' repeatedly  several times - be undisturbed with stray thoughts while doing so.
  4. Guided Meditation: Concentrate fully to a music or a positive  conversion, making your mind blissful and distraction free, you can take help of you tube for this.
  5. Radiate positive vibes: Sit in a particular place, be calm  and think good for yourself,  for others, and for everybody. Think somebody helped you, or something you love about yourself, or something good is happening with you - you will experience joy and happiness. 
Anyone that suits you practice daily for 10 to 15 minutes and have a beautiful, healthy and blissful mind and enjoy your exam.
